Russ serves as counsel to a broad spectrum of mature business ventures and entities, as well as an array of entrepreneurial endeavors. He is outside general counsel to several of Long Island’s largest privately owned companies for whom he provides advice and guidance on all aspects of corporate and business matters. Russ regularly represents clients in the manufacturing, telecommunications, distribution, energy and fuel development, distribution and resale, transportation and logistics, aggregate, mining, materials, and waste management fields. He also regularly advises private issuers and principals with respect to fund formation, operations, and compliance matters in his active private equity practice. Russ’ real estate construction, materials, contractors, development, joint venture and project finance practice complements his corporate and securities practice with great synergy and provides our clients with vast abilities and resources.
Russ serves our clients as lead counsel on all types of corporate transactions including private placements, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate finance, planning and strategies, licensing, manufacturing, supply and distribution agreements. He provides dedicated hands-on personal support to our clients from negotiation to closing and beyond. His business planning and entity structure advice helps our clients successfully face daily business challenges with confidence and success.
Russ’ expertise in negotiating complex business settlements is unparalleled. Over the years he has developed a well-known and recognized dispute resolution practice. Clients often seek his counsel in resolving matters before and during litigation. Over the past several years, Russ has successfully negotiated business and personal disputes to the clients’ satisfaction in excess of $750 million. He works closely with his litigation colleagues and is a client resource for practical business, corporate and negotiation support.
Prior to his admission to the New York Bar, Russ graduated from Duke University in 1995, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in English and Drama. He studied at the Loyola University Rome Center for Liberal Arts and the University College of London in 1993. In 1998, Russ earned his Juris Doctor, with honors, from The George Washington University Law School. He was awarded the Corpus Juris Secundum Award for Excellence in Contracts.
When he is not practicing law, Russ donates his time to the American Heart Association and Long Island Cares VetsWork. He is also very active in Long Island youth ice hockey, baseball and soccer.
Prior to joining the Firm, Russ practiced at one of Long Island’s largest law firms, first as an entry-level associate and eventually as a senior partner. After 15 years at his first firm, Russ helped build the business law practice for 3.5 years at a boutique Long Island law firm.
